India’s Rapedemic
Spanish travel blogger Fernanda is gang raped by 7 men in India, the world’s largest “democracy”. The blogger and her partner were attacked in a remote location in the District of Dunka. She was gang raped in front of her partner.
The India Times reports that each day as many as 926 crimes against women take place including 106 cases of brutal sexual assault. Each year almost 39 000 rapes and 338 000 crimes against women are reported in India. This does not include the high amount of unreported crimes. Only 27% of the perpetrators are convicted. The rest walk free. India does not protect women enough and does not prosecute the rapists. This is not likely to change during this election year.
In July 2023 two Christian women were brutally gang raped by dozens of Hindu men in Manipur and paraded naked after the assault. A horrific video ot the two naked women being dragged down a road as men groped and assaulted them went online. The father and brother of one woman, also Christians, were bludgeoned to death trying to save the women.
Modi took two months to condemn the horrific crime. His voters are Hindu.
